SPEL a.s. was established in 1990 as a privately held company in Kolin, located approximately 60 km from Prague, the capital of the Czech republic. From its foundation, SPEL focused on industrial automation and the management of technological processes. In this field, the company closely co-operates with a world leading Industrial Automation Corporation, Rockwell Automation/ Allen-Bradley, which is based in the United States. SPEL expanded its activities in engineering and production as an authorized distributor of Rockwell Automation.
In 1994 , Rockwell Automation acquired the Swiss firm Sprecher + Schuh, a key European manufacturer of low voltage equipment. A year later in July of 1995, SPEL was awarded a contract to co-produce the Sprecher + Schuh products through the Rockwell Automation channel, and since its inception, production volume has been growing every year.
The company continued to seek opportunities for development, and in July 1996, SPEL signed a joint agreement with the local branch of Thermo King and with Galway in Ireland for their production. Through this relationship, SPEL now produces harnesses and cables for air-conditioning and refrigeration units for both the automotive and railway industries. SPEL also expanded into low voltage control panel production for Ingersoll - Rand.
Presently SPEL offers superior capabilities in the development, manufacturing and implementation of low voltage control panels while ensuring the highest level of quality.
Additionally SPEL manufactures and tunes microwave antenna filters for mobile communication GSM and UMTS units for the Italian firm FOREM, a division of Allen Telecom.
SPEL team is comprised of 350 experienced employees with a focus on delivering the highest quality products, systems and services.
Since 1999, SPEL has been certified according to ISO 9002 with an extended certificate in 2003 through the EN ISO 9001:2000.
Effective July 1, 2010 HSP, Inc. became the authorized North American representative and distributor for SPEL.
